Não é mentira. No dia 1 de abril começará o período de espera para o Quiksilver Ceremonial Punta de Lobos Invitational. Os organizadores do evento vão esperar durante dois meses pelo maior dia do swell.
O Quiksilver Ceremonial Punta de Lobos, evento de ondas grandes, é o primeiro evento do 2010-2011 Big Wave World Tour e reunirá os melhores big riders do mundo em ondas grandes, assim como dez dos melhores do Chile. O Big Wave World Tour é composto de cinco eventos no Chile, Peru, Oregon (E.U.A.), Califórnia (E.U.A.) e México.

A premiação total do evento será U$30.000, sendo U$10.000 para o vencedor. O evento vai voltar para região de Pichilemu, lar do mais famoso big rider chileno, Ramon Navarro. Essa região chilena foi uma das áreas que foram fortemente atingidas pelo terremoto do mês passado e pelo Tsunami.
“Os big riders que vão fazer a viagem até Punta de Lobos vão levar para o evento, não somente suas pranchas, mas também um espírito humanitário”, disse o diretor de prova Gary Linden. “Depois de uma temporada tão sensacional aqui no hemisfério norte, é hora de seguir o inverno no sul e manter o Big Wave World Tour rolando a todo vapor”, completou Linden.
Esse evento de big surfe com um dia de duração irá acontecer no maior dia de surf dentro do período de espera designado que começará em 1 de abril e irá até 31 de maio de 2010.

Quiksilver Ceremonial Punta de Lobos Invitational Presented by Suzuki

Event organizers target biggest day of swell during two-month holding period beginning April 1, 2010
The Quiksilver Ceremonial Punta De Lobos big wave event, presented by Suzuki, launches the 2010-2011 Big Wave World Tour and will bring together many of the world’s top big wave riders, as well as 10 of Chile’s best. The Big Wave World Tour is made up of five events in Chile, Peru, Oregon (USA), California (USA), and Mexico.
The total prize purse for this year’s event will be US$30,000, with US$10,000 going to the winner. The Quiksilver Ceremonial returns to the beach-side region of Pichilemu, home to Chile’s most famous big wave rider, Ramon Navarro, and an area that was heavily hit by last month’s earthquake and tsunami.
“The resilient corps of big wave surfers who will make the journey to Punta de Lobos for this year’s Quiksilver Ceremonial carry not only their boards but a humanitarian spirit as well,” says Contest Director Gary Linden. “After such a sensational season here in the Northern Hemisphere, it’s time to follow the winter south and keep the Big Wave World Tour rolling.”
This one-day big wave event will be staged on the biggest day of surf within the designated holding period that commences April 1 and runs through May 31, 2010.
