Você acha que conhece um lugar só de olhar, após tantos anos vendo ele? Não é bem assim. Imagine um reef bem raso e uma maré bem seca ao nascer do sol em um swell sólido de leste com 16 pés e 16 segundos. Fácil de imaginar mas difícil de adivinhar que lugar é este.

O dia não estava muito bonito e a maré não era a ideal, estava muito baixa e as condições muito perigosas para esse secret spot: mais uma laje na Califórnia. Três dos cinco big riders que surfaram nesse dia foram de encontro ao reef e acabaram tendo que interromper a sessão de tow in. O resto das pessoas estava só assistindo. O pico fica a meia milha da praia. Havia alguns times que vieram de Jaws para pegar essa onda mas só um, dos 4 caras que vieram, acabou surfando neste dia.O swell estava um pouco grande demais para o pico com ondas sólidas de 16 pés o que deixou as coisas bastante perigosas para quem se aventurou.

A sessão de tow in durou algumas horas com os big riders: Van Curazza, David Langer, Chuck Patterson, TJ and Bryce Seaman.

You think you know a place after watching it for so many years. Then it does this to us all? Plagued by a dry reef low tide at sunrise and a solid (real solid) 16 ft West swell at 16 seconds.

The day was very old and the tide was not right for this secret spot “California Slab” it was too low and very dangerous. 3 of the 5 people who towed in this day ended up hitting the reef and ending their sessions. Everyone else just watched. The spot is about a half mile off the beach. There were tow teams from Jaws who came to get this wave, but only 1 of the 4 guys who came over ended up riding this day. The swell was also very big for this spot 16 ft at 16 seconds, Solid waves. So the surfers towed for a few hours and then came in. The riders: Van Curazza, David Langer, Chuck Patterson, TJ and Bryce Seaman.
